On July 24 the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) published a request for public comment on potential changes to the previous administration’s overtime rule. The DOL is seeking input as to whether the current salary threshold of $23,660 should be updated for inflation, whether certain factors call for multiple standard salary thresholds and how employers prepared for the 2016 rule to take effect, including whether unique challenges existed for small businesses and non-profits. We will continue to the monitor this situation and will continue to update as new information becomes available. In the meantime, if you have any questions or would like to discuss wage and hour issues related to your business please feel free to contact us.
